The under 17 Premier boys had an outstanding season going through the year undefeated, they just needed one more win. The boys were very nervous leading up to the grand final with the added pressure of being undefeated. We were fortunate enough to get Sean Wellman the 200 game Essendon premiership player down on Friday night who spoke to the boys about how to handle the extra pressure. I feel like this was very helpful for the boys.

Sunday was a beautiful day for footy, when we rolled up to Scoresby the ground was pretty average, very boggy in sections.  The instructions were pretty simple just one on one footy and bring that defensive pressure. The first quarter the boys tackling and defensive pressure was great!  We had majority of the play, 16 inside 50's to 6, but couldn't make the most of our opportunities and we let Rowville get a couple of easy goals out the back against the flow of play. So going in only 4 points up at quarter time.

Rowville started the second quarter well, kicking two quick goals to hit the front but as the boys have done all year when they have been under pressure they were able to step up and kick the next few goals to go in with a 7 point lead at half time.  The third quarter both sides only kicked one goal, highlighted by the skipper Damien Furey in his first game back in 8 weeks after a broken wrist kicked a 45 metre goal on the run.

It all came down to the last quarter of footy, the boys opened up with 2 quick goals to give us some breathing space. Isaac Biasuzzo, Calvin Daraio and Riley Beaton were all winning heaps of the footy. We kicked 4 goals to 0 in the last quarter with Alister Chiodo marking 45 meters out with siren sounding half way through his run up and he slots the goal and we win by 31 points and all of a sudden Alister is mobbed by all of his team mates once the job is done.  Like all year all 22 players that took the field contributed and played a role in a great win.

The back line was superb all year, led my Jackson Pallotta. Eight goals being the highest scored against us all year. Special mention to our key backs James Ross and Jack Riddle who kept Rowville's leading goal kickers goalless for the day. The mid field were on top winning 70% of the stopages and up forward Fraser Smith looked dangerous all day.

Amazing year to be premiers and champions in the highest division of football the boys can play outside of TAC for their age and to be Vermont's first ever under 17 Premiers is something they should all be very proud of.
